Students protest against federal immigration crackdownBy Leo Juarez, Scott Martindale & David Eisenberg

On April 15 — three weeks after half a million people gathered in downtown Los Angeles to protest a punitive immigration bill before Congress — thousands of students marched those same streets for the same cause.

Behind the student march was a core group of about 30 young people who founded the Coalition for United Students shortly after the massive demonstration on March 25.

The coalition – which includes middle, high school and college students as well as recent graduates – was created to give students a voice in the current immigration debate.
